News on The Labour Price Index (LPI)

The annual change (March 2007 to March 2008) in the seasonally adjusted Labour Price Index through the year to March 2008 for all employee jobs in Australia was 4.1%.

The Labour Price Index (LPI) is commonly used to determine annual wage increases for employees in order to ensure salary adjustments are in line with overall economic conditions.  The LPI is calculated by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on a quarterly basis.

LPI broadly measures changes in the wages paid by Australian businesses to employees taking into account both overall economic factors as well as those specific to the labour market.

Di Fingleton talks resilience...

Another informative and enjoyable event has been co-hosted by AIM and Babes in Business! Tarni McKay went along and took one of our newest clients, the QLD Law Society, to this exclusive breakfast presentation to hear Di Fingleton speak about how understanding resilience in the face of unimaginable circumstances could be the most important lesson in your career.

In May 2003, then Chief Magistrate, Di Fingleton was sent to prison amidst a media storm, and with her career in tatters. With time past and a new perspective on life and work, she is sharing her experiences within the context of resilience - a character trait not only useful in times of adversity.

Tarni McKay receives a great write up from Railways Credit Union after completing the HR Audit....Another happy customer!

HR Business Solutions worked with us to conduct a HR Audit that included a gap analysis between what practices, policies and procedures we currently have in place and how these compare to best practice standards. The audit itself was a great tool in identifying potential improvements that could be made and in many instances was an opportunity to have a fresh perspective, as more often than not when you are working with things day in and day out, you don't always have the insight that an external consultant can provide.

Furthermore, in addition to receiving a report with the audit findings, the general information and tips that were provided by Tarni who undertook the audit, were invaluable. Overall, the process was extremely positive and provided an opportunity for development and improvement from both a personal and organisational perspective.
